Galatians 5: 13-26 

Life by the Spirit

13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[b] 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh.They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[c] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited,provoking and envying each other.

As Christians we are expected by God to live according to His Word. It is only by His Grace that we have been set free from the bondage of sin, (13    “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh,” it is not an excuse to ignore His Word. As alcoholics and addicts the excuse “we are all sinners” is no longer justifiable. (24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.) If you are a Christian and still struggling with addictions, you need to focus on verse 21, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. That is God’s Truth to you, and if you were planning Eternal Life with Him, you must “choose you this day whom ye will serve,”

To be SAVED AND SOBER one must be Born Again,

and seek ye first the Kingdom of God!

Matthew 21:11-13(KJV)

¹¹ And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee. ¹² And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, ¹³ And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

Let's read between the lines. I believe there is much to be said and understood behind these 3 simple verses.  
My ministry for the past 15 years has involved trying to share God’s Truth with thousands of alcoholics and addicts who were in denial of their circumstances. Who refused to believe that their addictions were a problem. Many were professing Christians who were also in denial of Gods truth. Claiming to believe it, but unwilling to study and understand it, and accept and act upon it! Blinded by the false teachings of the world, which had convinced them that they had a disease that could be cured by any "higher power" they chose to call "god"! Thinking that will only lead to hell! If, and when we first come into The One True God’s Grace, we will be brand new creatures, and infants under His care, needing milk, not honey, and as alcoholics and addicts we will need much nurturing. Most alcoholics and addicts grow up in their addictions believing they are in control, and it is next to impossible to convince them otherwise. You can hold a list of 10 verses showing them they’re wrong in front of their face and they will deny it! Only God can penetrate their denial. We can only share the message as God leads us. This ministry has made it easy for me to identify with Christ in the above scenario, and understand His consternation. If one in ten finds and follows The Truth, I can sleep well tonight!
